I have a pair of sunglasses that I am not willing to part with, because I’m way too in love with the frame. The only problem is that the tint of the lenses to a little to light. Is it possible to go to a professional to have the lenses switched out for darker non-prescription lenses? These are regular plastic lenses. I don’t think they have that little screw on them that you can use to open them up like glasses do. Thanks for your help!

sorry, i misread the question. It’s unlikey that a professional will give u non-prescripted lenses… they make $$ by doing prescription lenses and it may be hard to find a place that is willing to give u non prescripted lenses…. sorry
yes depending on what kind of frame they are. if they are the kind of frame that only has one lens (shield) then those are not possible. it never hurts to take your sunglasses to the lab or optometrist and ask. i actually work in an optometrist’s office and i see that kind of thing happen all the time. shop around though!
Hi,
When you purchase sunglasses, they should be able to tell you if the lenses in those sunglasses are Rx possible. Websites like ShadesDaddy.com specifies if the lens for each glass is rxable.
Hi there
You can make tinted lens with Plano prescription (Non-prescription) power. When you make tint lens normally you will have many colour options to choose.
However finally it depends on the design of your sunglasses. There are 2 type of sunglasses which can not be added customzied non-prescription lens.
1. Single lens designer sunglasses. You can get more details at this link
2. Sunglasses with very big curve. It is a bit hard to customize lens with big curve.
If your glasses frame is a normal design one. I don’t see the problem why you can not change your lens.
I recommend you contact this website – I did my new prescription sunglasses with them at very cheap price. Basically they customize the sunglasses lens with my prescription. Also they give 20 colors to choose. : ) They are pretty good.
Hope this helps.
