Is it irritating to other people when I wear my sunglasses indoors?

sunglasses
PO asked:

I wear glasses, and my sunglasses have prescription lenses. I cannot see much without corrective lenses.

Often, when I go indoors (into a store, for example), I’ll just keep my prescription sunglasses on instead of getting out my regular glasses and switching between the two.

I’m just curious if other people find it annoying/irritating/etc when I’m wearing the sunglasses indoors like this. In case it matters, I’m a guy in my 20s.

Thanks!

No I don’t think it is impolite unless you are gonna be talking to someone for a period of time that you are visiting. If you are just going in and out of the store or what not then why change them.

Unless you have a medical condition that requires you wear sunglasses, it is generally considered impolite to wear sunglasses indoors.

don’t know if its impolite or not, but it bugs the heck out of me.

If you’re going to be indoors for only a short time, then it’s fine to leave your shades on since you really can’t manage without the prescription lenses. There are times when you’re indoors that shades are not appropriate, but I think you can figure that out by youself.

It’s impolite to wear sunglasses inside of a building, as a.)there is no sun b.) Some people think it makes them look “Cool” and some people could misjudge you by the way you are dressed…Including sunglasses. I would switch between glasses to go inside…

Well its both impolite AND freaking annoying :) Unless you’re gonna be in the store for no more then 5 minutes, keep them on, but otherwise, just remove them.

I guess to some it might be but in general it is custom to remove sunglasses while indoors as they are SUN-glasses used for outdoors. But in the case of a script lenses you have a ‘get out of jail’ free card. Don’t worry about really. If you have a pair of regular glasses, switch when you come inside.

I don’t think it’s annoying, but it may make people wonder if you have an eye problem or are trying to hide something (anything from a black eye, to eyes reddened from drinking or allergies, or trying to disguise yourself for some reason).

I don’t think it matters unless you are going somewhere where you care what they think. A shop for example..who cares what they think of you. I wear my sunnies inside sometimes. say at the mall if the light is real bright. my ex sometimes wears his in the lounge where its not too bright. so i know he is just hiding. And that annoys me because i am not hiding.
so yeah i guess it annoys me if i think the person if a poser or if they are just hiding behind their shades. but i bet you don’t care if you walk into a room and i am annoyed cos you got em on right? :]

Yes, it irritates people because they think you are weird.

I don’t’ think it wrong, but i do think it is wrong when you are with family or friends. At stores then it is okay.
